Sporting Around with NY and Friends “Their at the Post!" And “It’s a homerun!” were just some of the shouts as party goers shot footballs, basketballs, putted for a “hole -in -one, raced their horses and rolled the dice for bases. Dinner gift cards were given to the overall winners along with basket give-a-ways. The food was again catered by Affordable Custom Caterers and the roast beef just melted in your mouth. Of course, the delicious dinner was topped off by the famous NY cheesecake. Guests could also take fun pictures as a baseball or football player, basketball referee, golf partner with the Three Stooges or with the WW II pro wrestlers Mike and Eve. Music with the Spotlight Entertainment highlighted the evening and left guests begging for more. We are looking forward to next year's party “Rockin’ the 50’s with NY and Friends,” on January 17, 2017. So get your T’s and poodle skirts ready for a great time.
Line Dancing More than 60 RCR residents are getting ready for parties this year by attending Line Dance Classes on Thursday evenings. Individual line dance steps are reviewed with Steve Strict at 6:00 - 6:30 p.m. Beginner classes at 6:30-7:30 p.m. and more advanced dances at 7:30-8:30 p.m. with Val Quirion and Jill Cross.
GERMAN FEST 2016 It was an outstanding evening. This opinion came from numerous guests, not just the committee members!! The band Alpine Express once again not only played a wonderful variety of dance music but also entertained everyone with individual performances on the Alpen Horn, a saw, cowbells and an instrument similar to a Xylophone. They also got everyone up to learn a strange new fast food dance and to join in a most interesting Conga Line. They even persuaded twelve brave souls to compete in a German Green Hat contest.  Equally important, Buffalo Bills, whose owners are Gary and Lucy Steinwachs, proved that they certainly know how to prepare real German food. Of course the beer and wine (new this year) was enjoyed by all. Plans are underway for 2017, so stay tuned. We will try to make it even better. by Peter Crich

2016 Senior Games Golf… A beautiful day for golf at Lake Venice GC, Venice, found 14 foursomes competing in a 9-hole scramble tournament. This, the second year of this event, was as successful as the inauguration event last year. Because of the blind draws for team selection, the scores were close ranging from one over to six under par for the winning team. Third place had to be decided by matching cards.
2016 New Orleans Trip On January 31 we headed out for a trip to New Orleans, never knowing how much fun we could have. Our first stop in New Orleans was Mardi Gras World where we would experience the magic of the parades. We started off with lunch followed by a short film explaining Mardi Gras and its history. There, everyone was able to try on some of the costumes before being given a taste of the famous King Cake. Bev Hinds was lucky enough to find the baby in her piece! Read More >>>
